Nike Golf Drivers - Are They Worth The Hype?
Nike Golf Company has spent millions of dollars in the past couple years developing a line of drivers to professional players and low handicap players. This marketing has been backed by the endorsement of none other than the famous Tiger Woods. But are the new Nike drivers worth it? There are 3 new Nike Drivers out on the market now: Nike Sasquatch SUMO Nike SQ 5000 SUMO Nike SQ SUMO 5900 These three drivers are have a squared clubface and a large squared head. When hit, each driver makes a very hollow sound that resonates through a quiet golf course. My personal experience with these drivers show that you have to have a very good swing to be able to use these effectively out of the box. Otherwise it takes a good session at the driving range to learn to make good contact with the ball. The Nike drivers really provide a good amount of topspin and roll on my drives. Even on mishits, the ball will typically roll at least 125-150 yards if struck with a moderate amount of force. Trajectory is a bit lower than what I am used to with a 7 to 7.5 degree loft. I've seen other players hit 300+ yard drives with the Nike drivers though, but they are typically players with a handicap below 12. If distance is what matters to you and you don't mind a low trajectory drive, then the Nike Sumo is for you. Check out Nikegolf.com for more information on the 3 models. You can find excellent deals on used Nike drivers on Ebay as many beginner golfers end up buying them and not liking them. Good luck and see you on the fairway!
