Tips for Selecting your First Set of Golf Clubs

Golf beginners shopping for their first set of beginner's golf clubs can often rush into a purchase before getting the proper advice about their golf swing. Players must first obtain a feel for their Golf swing before purchasing a starter set.

Often, beginning players will take a keen interest in golf with the intention of playing the game regularly but after a few rounds, the interest wanes and they are left with an expensive set of golf clubs that never get used.

Are you serious about Golfing?

Decide now if you are going to play golf indefinitely. Initially, borrow a set of clubs from your friends. If you are going to a golf course, by all means Rent a set of golf clubs to play with at the local pro shop. By playing you'll gain valuable experience and get an idea of the type of irons that will suit your swing. Ask your local golf pro for a lesson and some advice on buying a set of clubs.

Choosing A Beginners Set Of Clubs

Many companies market starter sets to new players. Wilson, King Cobra, Titliest, Callaway, Nike, Ping, Slazenger and the list goes on. Do not buy the most expensive brand out there. I suggest you shop on Ebay and find a used set of clubs after trying out some clubs in the pro shop. Venture out to the golf shops and try them out. Golf superstores, like Bob Nevadas or Dick's Sporting Goods, will have inside driving ranges where buyers can try before they buy.

Things you should be asking yourself are:

Does it feel right in my hands?
Does it grip tightly?
Does the griping chafe my hands?
How well does the swing feel?
Is the club too light or too heavy for me?
How sweet do the shots feel when I make solid contact?
Do the clubs seem forgiving?

Afterwards you can goto a discount golf store online that sells used golf clubs and pick up the set you saw in the store. You can find a set of Nike CCI Irons for $400 less on Ebay than in the retail stores.

Remember, golf clubs are an expensive investment. Do your due diligence and you'll be on your way to mastering one of the best games there is.
